History
The 1967 Duchesne Yearbook, L'Esprit,
became the hard cover book we know today. It was the first
year to create senior pages and use Taylor Publishing Company, the same publisher we
still use today. L'Esprit was named and created by Mary Anne Loweth, Janet Hennessy
and Patricia Makie. The original L'Esprit cost approximately $6.50. It was modeled after St. John's yearbook because of its individuality. L'Esprit
means "the spirit" in French. During this time the senior class was made
up of only twenty girls, the entire school was the White House, the girls had
mass every day and Sr. Caire was headmistress. In
1967 all the photography was done by the students. The following year, all of
the photos were developed in the school's dark room. By 1969, photo developing
took place outside of the school once again. The 1969 yearbook
was the one and only all black and white yearbook, and cost only $8. Forty years later, Julie Meyer was the Middle School headmistress, all Yearbook photography and production was done digitally, and the Yearbook boasted full color while costing $60. |
